Tweedle Dee Goblet
Alice in Wonderland Goblets are made using a Pate de Verre method - this is like a glass paste which - when fired - gives a sugary kind of texture. Pate de verre is not transparent like other glass art methods, but can be translucent. They are ornamental and not functional.
“Tweedledum and Tweedledee
Agreed to have a battle;
For Tweedledum said Tweedledee
Had spoiled his nice new rattle.
Just then flew down a monstrous crow
As black as a tar-barrel;
Which frightened both the heroes so,
They quite forgot their quarrel.
Upon meeting the two little fat men, Alice quotes the nursery rhyme, which the two brothers then go on to enact. They agree to have a battle, but never have one. When they see the Crow they take to their heels. The Tweedle brothers never contradict each other, even when one of them, according to the rhyme, "agrees to have a battle". Rather, they complement each other's words.
Tweedle Dee Goblet is all-out orange with a ‘spoiled’ rim!
6.5 cm diametre top x 10 cm high, with a 7.5 cm round base.
